Matt's Job on TV

For those of you wanting to know what exactly Matt does, here is a video from Tuesday's edition of the Today Show featuring a missile launch facility at Malmstrom AFB in Montana. Al Roker traveled there and was allowed down in the capsule (which is a fully capable launch facility, just not one that's active right now). Malstrom is one of the three missile bases including the one here in Minot. I don't know why Al Roker didn't want to come here instead!!

To watch the footage, wait until the whole video has downloaded (the gray line fills to the right), then drag the arrow to 32.36 minutes into the clip (the green numbers on the right). This footage shows the missile raised up inside the truck above the silo (there was no active warhead in it). Matt works down inside the capsule (some distance from the silo), called the launch control center, which was featured later in the show. If I find that video, I'll post it.

If you scan around this hour's show, you can see glimpses of what the control center looks like inside. They show a couple of teasers when Al does the weather earlier in the show.
