While my mom was visiting, we drove to Washburn, ND (about 1 1/2 hours south of us) to see the Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center and Fort Mandan. I am so amazed that these men survived North Dakota in the winter! The center had just been built, so it was fun taking a look around. The weather was absolutely unbelieveable. It wasn't windy at all and the temp reached 66!! 
Henry was no dummy, he wanted to stay outside the whole time!

The center's donors had their names inscribed on these buffalo.
We took a tour of the replica of Ft. Mandan, where Lewis, Clark, Sakakawea, Charbeneau and company stayed for the winter...
Henry's favorite part of the trip was seeing the 6 foot statue of Seaman, Lewis's Newfoundland who accompanied them on the trip. The statue is located right along the Missouri River, which was very high!
Notice the sandbags in the background... the water was rushing under the road!

No kidding about surviving in ND. I can't even imagine living there under those circumstances...
Love those photos of Henry with the Newfoundland dog. So cute! What a place. So great that you had such wonderful weather.
