What A Difference A Base Makes

I took Henry for his 18 month well-baby appointment last week. Henry weighed in at a whopping 21 lbs, 6 oz. I think he's 31 inches tall. I actually couldn't hear what the nurse said because Henry was crying from being made to lay down on a surface he had not yet had time to get to know first, haha. I thought for sure he weighed more than he does because he had been eating better since we've been back and growing like a weed. I braced myself for a long conversation from the doctor about his falling off the growth charts, but... the doctor said nothing at all! Not a single word. She herself was very petite so maybe her kids were like Henry, who knows. So no weight checks, no high calorie diet changes... ahhh what a difference.

Eating is by far one of Henry's least favorite things to do so I was relieved to not have to tackle that issue again. At 12 months, he weighed almost 20 lbs and the doctor at Ft. Meade (loved her because she really took her time and genuinely cared, I wish she was up here!) recommended I give him baby food and other things with high calorie/bite ratios. I also had to bring him in for weight checks, which happened anyway because he was sick most of the fall so we were in and out of the clinic on a monthly basis. He actually lost some weight over that period, so I know we're playing catch up.

Noelle is really small too. On our scale she only comes in at 25 pounds at 2 1/2 and her doctor has never been worried. I think she was 18 pounds at her one year appt and 23 at her two year. Some kids are just little. I'm glad because I still carry her a lot although I really have no where to put her right now. Henny-D is super cute!!

Sounds just like Grace! Even after we do things that really increase her calories (like put cream on her cereal and give her that powdered breakfast mix with whole milk in her sippy cup), she will get back up to where she was (almost 21 pounds at 20 months), but it's not like she ever really chunks up. She just burns it right off. I just am glad I don't have to worry about childhood obesity with any of my kids, LOL.
