It's been a long haul for Henry this past month. He had a mild cold which we think turned into a sinus infection after three weeks. For four days, he would only eat a few bites of food at each meal and just laid around otherwise. So he started on some antibiotics but developed a rash the following day. The doctor didn't want to assume it was a reaction to the medicine, which I appreciated, since his rash was mild and not itchy, and he had spiked a fever the day before it appeared (possibly Roseola). To be safe, she prescribed another antibiotic for the next 5 days. By day 2 of this new medicine, Henry was not himself. He was quick-tempered and clingy, but he was eating somewhat better. His congestion had definitely improved.
We finally realized that his stomach was upset by dairy products. I looked up Azithromycin on WebMD and found stomach cramps and dairy sensitivity to be very popular side effects! That would've been nice to know sooner! So we had a day of only toast and Pedialyte, and now (3 days later, adding back one food at a time) he seems to be feeling better. It's been over a month now of him not feeling well, so I know it'll take some time to climb out of the hole! I'm just relieved to see he's acting a little more like himself every day.
On a happy note, here's a quick video from early September of him trying to push two cars at once on my parents' kitchen floor. His Great Uncle Don and Aunt Pam gave him a new car (with purple wheels!) which he loved. He has a tow truck in the same series, so he of course had to find a way to play with both of them at the same time!
